I didn't think I'll listen to this song again since I killed it for myself, but here I am reviewing this stuff. It popped up in my rotation so lets kick this pig!
The song itself is charming and simple. It can't be listened multiple times in just a few minutes otherwise it would get really boring. In other-words, it can be overplayed. Its definitely not the typical Counting Crows, so its a song that one could really love or really hate.
I normally associate this song to Shrek 2 since I heard it for the first time when I watched the movie. The song really didn't connect with me mainly since I wasn't that big into the movie and the song is affiliated with the movie in my mind. It really isn't fair for the song so I'll have to really listen to the song.
The song can really identify for those who are actually have been in love. What made a connection to me were the lyrics:
Well maybe I'm in love (love)
Think about it every time
I think about it
Can't stop thinking 'bout it
Now for the video, it opens to a rabbit singing. Throughout the video, this guy is making breakfast for a girl who is sleeping still and seems to be failing miserably. The rabbit wanders into the room and watches the guy make breakfast and as the video draws to a conclusion, he wakes the girl off and convinces her to run off with him. The guy succeeds in actually making a decent looking breakfast to realize that the girl is gone and a picture of the girl and the rabbit together is left on the bed where she was. I feel sorta bad for the guy who made the trouble to make the breakfast but I got over it quickly.
The music video did relate to the song in a very odd way. The rabbit and the girl were accidentally in love. I thought the couple was very weird but I just went along with it.
I felt the video was a bit below average: a 4/10. It was okay since it went along with the song and the video had some sort of a story. However, it was forgettable. Nothing about the video really stood out in my mind. I'll most likely forget most of the video in about five months or so.
I like the song better though. I'll give it a 6/10.
It had lyrics that could connect with the listener. Plenty of people have been in love so it could reach out to a widespread audience.
However, as I mentioned, the song can be overplayed. I suppose someone should've told that to radio stations when it first came out. The radio has a way of beating a dead horse with these songs. To an extent, the song could also be forgettable in the sense that many people may not care much for the song in the future.
