Not another Aaliyah video! Indeed it is. I'll do stuff like this all the time; meaning I'll do an album review and all the music videos that come along. I believe this is the last Aaliyah video for this album but don't quote me on that. I still need to check.
I still stand by my view that the song is rather boring in a way but having a catchy chorus makes up for it. You can easily catch yourself singing the chorus:
I'll be
I'll be more than a lover
More than a woman
More than your lover
I said I'll be
More than another...
I found the music video a bit interesting. A motorcyclist is shown and the camera goes inside the mechanism of the motorcycle to show Aaliyah and some girls dancing inside. I'll be a little weirded out to see little people inside my motorcycle but whatever... The background of the video seems a bit weird to me. My theory is that it was computer generated or something and things weren't as advanced back in 2001. Its my theory and I'm sticking to it.
She's in white again in the video. The entire time in this scene, they're just dancing. The camera goes on a upward angle on the girls sometimes, which extenuates their butts and makes their romp shaking much more provocative. Half of the time, I keep staring at the things in the background moving instead of the pretty dancers though.
There are brief cameos of Aaliyah in black and sunglasses facing her body towards a funky glass wall. There are only a few and they're all short little clips.
And still inbetween all of this, there are still clips of the motorcyclist driving along at a fast speed. Conveniently for the person, there seems to be no traffic.
The scene changes to a different dance floor, which while still being inside the motorcycle, it looks like an actual dance place complete with a DJ, speakers, and more dancers. There's a specific scene in which Aaliyah is shaking her romp in front of this guy and he tries to touch it. Being the tease that she is, she doesn't let him. I didn't see much of a point in this but this video doesn't have a point to begin with so I shouldn't really be complaining.
The video concludes with more pictures of Aaliyah dancing in this new setting and the motorcyclist stopping, taking off her helmet, and reveals to be Aaliyah herself.
In conclusion, the video is just like her other ones: random images put together to the song and more reasons to show off Aaliyah's dancing abilities. It was very average so I'm giving it a 5/10. Just like Rock the Boat, I'll give the video props for the lovely dancing and, in this video's case, an interesting setting. I still don't really know how to react to the dancing people inside a motorcycle. It was a "WTF" moment for me.
For the song, I'll give it a 4/10. It wasn't great for me and I don't really understand the popularity it got. It would've been lower if it weren't for the fact that the chorus was so bloody fun to sing.
Off topic: Did you notice the difference in the images? I started taking screenshots from videos with better resolution since I was frustrated with getting crappy screenshots from youtube videos. Yes, I previously used youtube. I'm just a bit excited. I always like blogs with pretty images and I'd like my blog to be so too. Well, enjoy.
